C-SPAN ELECTION BUS AND NASA HIGHLIGHT BRIGHT HOUSE NETWORKS EDUCATORS' CONFERENCE

McWane Science Center to Host "Space Odyssey" Workshop

Birmingham, Ala. - July 28, 2008 – Birmingham area teachers will have a chance to get hands on training and guidance about some free educational resources at the Bright House Networks third annual Educator’s Conference. The event takes place at the McWane Science Center, 200 19th Street North, Birmingham AL 35203, on Thursday, July 31st, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm. The C-SPAN Election Bus and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center will highlight the agenda for the day. Other partners include Cable in the Classroom and the Bright House Networks Star Teacher Award.

The Bright House Networks Educator’s Conference is a free program that provides local educators with online resources available via Cable in the Classroom and other online learning tools. NASA will introduce teachers to some online “Space Games” while the staff of the McWane Science Center demonstrates some simple projects that can be implemented with very little effort in the classroom. The conference also introduces teachers to various recognition programs available in the Cable Communication industry. The public and those attending the McWane Science Center will also have an opportunity to take the CSPAN Bus tour.

“We are delighted to share some valuable information with local educators that will enhance the learning experience of the students in our market” states Karen Broach, Division President - Bright House Networks Birmingham. “We are continually reminded of budget cuts in education and the potential reduction in resources. Our Educator’s Conference is another sign of Bright House Networks’ commitment to education and community.”
